Get ready to drop in! The SK8 the Infinity OVA, "EXTRA PART," is finally coming! This 25-minute special features four new short stories centered around Reki, Langa, and other beloved characters. Hitting Japanese theaters January 24, 2025, with a physical release on March 19th. Original cast and crew return for this exciting addition to the SK8 universe!

Finally, more than two years after the official announcement that the series would continue, the release date for the upcoming SK8 the Infinity OVA has been disclosed. Initially announced in August 2022 alongside plans for a second season, a recent commercial revealed that SK8 the Infinity EXTRA PART will debut in select Japanese theaters on January 24, 2025. The physical release of the 25-minute OVA will follow on March 19.

A brand-new key visual was released with the commercial, though no details have been shared yet about the second season of SK8 the Infinity.

What Do We Know About SK8 the Infinity EXTRA PART?

The upcoming SK8 the Infinity OVA will consist of four different short stories focusing on various characters from the series:

  • "Ame to Neko Konbini Aisu Soda Aji" (Rain and Cat Convenience Store Ice Soda Flavour), featuring Reki, Langa, and Miya
  • "Ganbare, Hiromi-chan!" (Do Your Best, Hiromi-chan!), centered on Shadow
  • "Maji de Maji ni Nareru Koto" (Things You Can Seriously, Seriously Do), highlighting Joe and Cherry
  • "Morning Routine", focusing on Adam and Tadashi

The OVA will be produced by Studio Bones, with key staff from the first season returning, including series creator and director Hiroko Utsumi, with series composition by Ichirō Ōkōchi. Character designer Michinori Chiba, art director Yumiko Kondō, photography director Masataka Ikegami, 3D director Yōta Andō, and sound director Masafumi Mima will also continue their roles. Additional staff includes scriptwriters Sei Tsuguta and Tsukasa Kondō. The cast features Chiaki Kobayashi as Langa Hasegawa, Tasuku Hatanaka as Reki Kyan, Hikaru Midorikawa as Kaoru "Cherry blossom" Sakurayashiki, Kenshō Ono as Tadashi "Snake" Kikuchi, Kenta Miyake as Hiromi "Shadow" Higa, Takehito Koyasu as Ainosuke "Adam" Shindō, Takuma Nagatsuka as Miya Chinen, and Yasunori Matsumoto as Kojirō "Joe" Nanjō.

SK8 the Infinity follows skater Reki and snowboarding prodigy Langa as they dive into the high-adrenaline world of competitive skateboarding, with the no-holds-barred downhill race "S" at its core. The first season aired for 12 episodes from January to April 2021, streamed by Crunchyroll. A manga spin-off was published on the Young Ace Up manga website in January 2021. A broadcast date for SK8 the Infinity season 2 remains unconfirmed.
