Russia has formally called on Israel to withdraw its troops from Lebanon, emphasizing the need for de-escalation and stability in the Middle East. This diplomatic action highlights growing international concern over regional tensions and seeks to encourage peaceful resolutions between the involved nations.
MOSCOW, Oct 1 (Habertalya) - Following a week of intense airstrikes on Lebanon, resulting in hundreds of casualties and international condemnation, Israel launched a ground invasion targeting Hezbollah militants in southern Lebanon. This move has prompted Russia to issue a strong condemnation and demand for immediate withdrawal of Israeli forces.
The Russian Foreign Ministry released a statement condemning the attacks, calling on Israel to cease hostilities, withdraw its troops, and pursue peaceful solutions to the Middle East conflict. The statement also expressed solidarity with Lebanon, which has been subjected to "armed aggression."
Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov warned that the Israeli incursion risked destabilizing the entire region.
While Israel claims to have launched a ground offensive, Hezbollah has denied that Israeli troops have crossed the border.
The situation remains volatile, with international pressure mounting on Israel to de-escalate and engage in diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict.
